MEMBER OF UNITED METAPHYSICAL CHURCHES From the Pastor’s Desk… After 60 years, welcome to a new day at the First Spiritual Church! First, the new newsletter! Our Editor, George Williams, is lending his expertise to the quarterly mailing in this, it’s new incarnation. What’s also exciting is what you’ll find inside. We are offering a NEW MORNING SERVICE! For all of our 64 year history, we have brought the community a “First Floor” of metaphysical understanding of the teachings of Jesus the Christ. With the addition of a morning service which will stress the “second floor” of enlightenment, we will strive to bring the next level of understanding of the “esoteric” or hidden wisdom that is the key to mastery here on the Earth plane. It will be an hour in length, without a message service, but with a focused message on interpreting scripture metaphysically, healing prayer for ourselves and for our planetary brethren, and tools for better life in the form of responsive readings/affirmations. Of course we will have music, too. So, if you have been hoping for more serious Metaphysical “food for the soul” come try the morning service and see if you aren’t left feeling well nourished. For those who still love and feel at home in our traditional service, it’s still at 2:00 and 2:30 PM as our rock-solid foundation. We are also expanding our offering of classes at our church! You have expressed a need for more opportunities for classes, and here they are. On the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, beginning on March 13th, we will be conducting an ongoing METAPHYSICAL BIBLE INTERPRETATION CLASS which will be led by Joan Hannah. Time: 10 AM. This will include discussion of the symbolism embedded in Bible Scripture that Jesus referred to when he said some will have “eyes to see” and “ears to hear.” We will also hold a DIVINATIONAL TOOLS CLASS on Thursday evenings at 7 PM with units of study on the commonly used “tools” for self-unfoldment. Topics such as Viking Runes, Numerology, Crystals and Gemstone Energy and many more will be on the schedule, each taught by the church member best qualified to present the material to you. The class will begin with a 6 week unit on Viking Runes. This will be followed by a 5 week block on Crystals and Gemstones. The quarter will round out with a 2 week unit on the I Ching. This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about the popular tools many use in their personal unfoldment. This class begins on Thursday, March 4th. Of course, we will continue our Tuesday schedule of Meditation classes and our Sunday Unfoldment classes that you’ve enjoyed this church season. The Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday classes will close for the summer at the end of April, resuming in the fall. We welcome other suggestions for classes that you would find interesting and are spiritually relevant to our path of enlightenment and service. So, enjoy the new newsletter! WORKSHOPS/DVD PRESENTATIONS IN THE SPRING QUARTER We have a couple of workshops and a DVD Presentation coming in the spring quarter. On Saturday, March 6th at 2 PM we will be presenting Dr. Rocco Errico’s DVD Mysticism and the Bible.. This will be after a regular morning of Psychic Saturday readings. Dr. Errico is a student of Dr. George Lamsa, whose translation of the Holy Bible we use here at our church. Both Dr. Lamsa and Dr. Errico are Aramaic language authorities, and it is the direct translation from Aramaic to English that makes this translation special. Aramaic is the language of Jesus. This DVD covers the spectrum of mysticism found in over 40% of the Bible; including dreams, visions, healings, clairaudience, clairvoyance and out of body experiences. What is the purpose of these experiences? Presented without theological, dogmatic or other denominational implications, this program will explain many misunderstood episodes in the Bible. Cost: $10 at the door. On Saturday, March 20 at 1 PM Rev. Dave Heron brings us a workshop which discusses the lost books of the Bible. This is a very informative workshop for all those who are students of the Bible from our Metaphysical perspective. The cost of this workshop will be $25 per person. For those who would like to listen to Dr. Rocco Errico in person, a once in a lifetime event in Michigan will be happening on May first in Flint! We will be carpooling to the Unity Church of Flint for a lecture given by Dr. Errico entitled “Through the Eyes of the Near East: 7 Keys That Unlock the Bible”. The cost will be $25 per person. Plan to leave the church at 1:15 PM. SUMMER SERVICE TIME CHANGE As we have done for many summers, our afternoon service will be moving to evenings for the summer. Beginning on May 30th and continuing until Sept. 12th, our Healing Service will be held at 6:30 PM and the Worship Service will be at 7 PM. The Morning Service will not be affected by this change.
STUDENT ALL-MESSAGE SERVICE MARCH 31 @ 7 PM As a fund raiser for our Seminarians, there will be a Student All-Message Service this spring before the students leave for the next Seminary session. Each will demonstrate a different modality of Message bearing. The last one in August of 2009 was a huge success. Come and support our excellent student Mediums. The suggested donation is $10.
