From the Pastor’s Desk…
Here it is going
to be fall already! The summer is all too short! We return to
the afternoon schedule on Sept. 12th. Like the
school year for children, fall quarter at our church kicks off
our time of classes and more formal worship. For the next three
quarters, from Sept. to the end of May, we are in our “school
year.” We put forth for you our best speakers, classes and
workshops. See this newsletter and the calendar pages for the
full schedule.
We are also
announcing a new schedule of class fees. While we know everyone
is watching their expenditures, we have seen a rise in our
operating costs as well and our class fees have not been changed
in a very long time. The Metaphysical Principle of giving and
receiving says to get something of value, you must give
something of equal value. There is always balance in the
universe. However, we have been remiss in offering information
in our classes of a very advanced understanding for the cost of
so little that it has manifested in shortfalls in our budget.
We told the universe we didn’t think we were offering much by
asking for so little..so we didn’t receive much in return! It
was a good reminder lesson for our Board and for me, too.
Natural Law applies to everyone and everything! What we put
out, the universe takes quite literally and returns to us in
equal measure.
Members will
continue to be offered classes at $5.00 each as a benefit of
church membership. Non-members will be asked to pay $8.00 per
class or two for $15.00. Sunday classes will be
charged individually. Also, Psychic Saturdays will increase
to $15.00 for 13 minutes for everyone. Remember it is our
Psychic Saturday Fundraising that pays for our increased utility
costs every winter.
John Davis
returns! If you haven’t gotten a numerology reading from this
Master Numerologist, I urge you to consider it. It is, quite
literally, your blueprint for this life! The benefit you will
get from knowing your Spiritual, physical, mental/emotional
destiny for this life is a priceless tool. Click
Here for
further information on how to sign up for a reading. His
workshop will be on the story behind the story about the year
2012. He was going to present this information in the last
visit, but was directed by his inner guidance to talk instead
about the emerging energy of the Divine Feminine-the Aquarian
Age. However, the closer we get to this year 2012 and all the
controversy swirling about whether it will be the “end of the
world” or a new spiritual beginning—it’s time to debunk the
myths and mysteries. Mark your calendars for the weekend of
Nov. 12-13. John will also be our featured speaker at our
Sunday Worship Service.
Namaste.
FALL CLASS
SCHEDULE
Our class
schedules will be slightly different, but with all the things
you have come to enjoy. Tuesdays will begin on 9/14 with a
three week unit on “Meditation with Flutes and Drums”.
Led by Colleen and Steve Ferrarese and Nancy and Kirk Hall, it
will reflect the Native American vibration of their instrumental
journey to higher states of consciousness. Bring your own
flutes and drums if you have them..The Ferrareses have extra
flutes and tell me drums are readily available on Ebay for those
who want them. After Convention, Rev. Spyker begins an
alternating schedule of Advanced Meditation and
Metaphysical Interpretation of the Bible. See the calendar
pages for specific class weeks.
On Thursdays, we
begin on Sept. 16 with Rev. Dave Heron’s 3 week unit on
Singing Bowls. Bowls made of brass, crystal or other
materials and tuned to the different chakras have been used for
centuries as tools for healing and activation. After one
Thursday Circle night, we then move into a unit by Paul and
Susan Trerice on the combination of Kinesiology/Muscle
Testing and the use of the Emotional Freedon Technique
for clearing old energies stored within your Meridians (energy
lines) and subconscious. Then, rounding out the quarter and
into December will be a class unit on Gifts of
Physical Mediumship by Ladona Tucker.
The 11:30 Sunday
class, led by Rev. Heron will be the continuing Intermediate
Spiritual Unfoldment class. At 12:30, Susan Trerice
begins the quarter with a 5 week Beginning Meditation
segment, followed by Rev. Laura MacLachlan’s Beginning
Spiritual Unfoldment class. This class is the annual
opportunity for brand new beginners to learn about their gifts
and the Philosophy of Divine Metaphysics. (Last year’s students
should plan to move into Rev. Dave’s 11 :30 class this fall.)
UMC
WEEKENDS –UMC ANNUAL CONVENTION—ROANOKE, VA.
The 46th
annual Convention will be held immediately following the fall
Seminary week (Oct.1-6). This year the dates fall on October
8-10. Delegates from all the member churches gather for
meetings, election of Executive Board Members, Workshops,
Worship and Message services and the Saturday night Banquet.
Sunday, the Ordination Service is held for the seminary
graduates. Our own Joan Anderson will be ordained that
morning. All members are invited to attend. Elections for our
Bay City delegation will be held at the Sept. 19th
membership meeting. You must be a member in Good Standing,
present to be elected a Delegate or Alternate to the convention
and be willing to attend all three days of the convention. The
wishes of the Membership for any voting shall be executed by the
Delegates as instructed at the Membership meeting at which they
are elected.
CLEANING
EVENT:
As
you know, we have no cleaning company for our church
housekeeping! Before our Circle Night on Thursday, Nov.
11th we will have a cleaning effort in preparation
for the visit by John Davis. Many hands make light work as we
clean the church inside and out. Afterwards, we will have a
message circle in the sanctuary. There is no charge for those
who have helped with the church cleaning for the Message Circle.

Labor Day Weekend and in October would fall during seminary.

CHURCH PICNIC
ON SANFORD LAKE
We’ve scheduled
our annual church picnic, hosted by Brian and Rev. Sandra Spyker
at their home on Sanford Lake. Maps will be available. We meet
there at noon, bringing a dish to pass, chairs, beverages and
personal dinnerware. We have a wonderful time sharing each
other’s company right on the waters of Sanford Lake. Be there
on Sept. 18th because a good time is had by all!
WE’RE LOOKING
FOR WORKSHOP LEADERS AND IDEAS
If you have an
area of expertise in the field of Metaphysics, you can submit an
outline for a class you’d be willing to offer to the Pastor for
consideration. We always have a need for new voices and
subjects for our congregation. Also, if you’d like to learn
something about a metaphysical topic we haven’t offered, give
your suggestions to any of our staff teachers and we will
investigate its availability. Rev. Laura and the Board reserve
the right to make all final decisions about the classes we are
willing to offer, based on suitability and wide appeal.
MORNING SERVICE
HAS ENDED
Thanks to everyone
who supported this wonderful service.
OUR MINISTERS
OFFER COUNSELING, SPECIAL SERVICES
Our Ministers are
available for personal counseling. In our church, that can mean
two things. Pastoral Counseling is available for
your life challenges and relationships like at any other
church. Additionally, we offer Spiritual Counseling
when you feel you need a private half hour reading. Pastoral
Counseling is a part of our ministry and is a free service.
Private readings are $40.00, paid to the Minister you choose to
ask. Both types of assistance require appointments that can
be made with that person. Our Ministers are also available for
weddings and other special services. Ask about our flier
outlining these services.
METAPHYSICAL
CORNER: LAW OF ATTRACTION
“Why is this
happening to me again?” Ever ask yourself that? Why the same
relationship problems, financial problems, upsets in life? Over
and over, even with different casts of characters? You are
living the law of attraction! We all vibrate to a different
frequency, like a radio station. Our thoughts send out a
vibration of doom and gloom, chaos--or peace, love and harmony.
Those who worry excessively, obsess on “worst case scenarios” or
their resentments and disappointments send out a signal
attracting more of the same. So, you come to class, learn to
meditate, visualize a good and happy life--but still the
problems come in a parade line. What’s up with that?
Natural Law doesn’t stop when you stand up from your
meditation. If you indulge in group discussions of the failing
economy, your friend’s foreclosures, health problems, etc,
you’ve succeeded in remerging with the vibration of trouble.
Extract yourself from such situations! Catch yourself indulging
in “You think that’s bad--listen to this!” and stop-simply walk
away or change the subject. When you can focus on God as
love in action, recognizing only the goodness in your life,
you will align your vibration with positive outcomes and your
life will begin to change. If you don’t like the way your life
looks, change it! You must do the work! Nobody can do
it for you! It all begins with the mind and where you put your
focus. It’s human nature to stare at our problems and chew on
our issues with others. The lesson of Mastery over the
limitations of the human mind and the material plane is the art
of ignoring these black holes we think are ruining our ability
to be happy and mentally create something better. This isn’t to
say we are heads-in-the-sand Pollyanna’s. We do have to “take
care of business.” But as Jesus said, “Be in the world, not of
the world.” In other words, don’t let your problems own you.
Deal with them and look/visualize ahead to a better future.
